Richard Dubugnon is one of the most highly in-demand Swiss-French composers of his generation. He has a catalogue of over 80 works which have been performed on five continents by some of the world’s most prestigious artists and orchestras. In 2014 he received the Swiss Prix Culturel Vaudois and in 2015 the Grand Prix Symphonique SACEM, the highest distinction from the French royalties collection society. His Caprice No. 1 for orchestra was premièred with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen and was subsequently toured across Switzerland with a further performance at the Royal Festival Hall, London in 2015. Other artists that have championed Dubugnon’s work include conductors Alain Altinoglu, Lionel Bringuier, Semyon Bychkov, Stéphane Denève, Leon Fleisher, Mikko Franck, Fabien Gabel, Paavo Järvi, Emmanuel Krivine, Kent Nagano, Laurent Petitgirard and Debora Waldman, as well as soloists such as Janine Jansen, Katia and Marielle Labèque, Renaud and Gauthier Capuçon, Xavier de Maistre, Itamar Golan and Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Dubugnon has been involved with many educational projects in the UK, the USA and France, and has several years experience of teaching composition in places such as the Royal Academy of Music and the Purcell School in London. He has created projects for children with no access to musical education. He is also a fine double bass player who is often sought after as a recitalist and chamber musician.
