The Sendai International Music Competition
The Sendai International Music Competition (SIMC) started in 2001 in Sendai City. It is held every three years.
The competition consists of two sections, violin and piano, that have unique aspects focusing on concertos in the selection of its repertoire.
The contestants, who are selected through preliminary stages, perform the concertos with the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra in the semifinals and finals.
Dates of Selections
- Violin Sections: May 22 - June 6, 2010, at Sendai City Youth Cultural Center
- Piano Sections: June 13 - June 27, 2010, at Sendai City Youth Cultural Center

There are about 60 repertoires selected for the 4th SIMC.
Our web site, Naxos music Library (NML), contains recordings of almost all those repertoires.
