現代では才能ある作曲家として知られるツィーラーですが、ヨハン･シュトラウスは彼のことを全く認めようとせず、「ツィーラーと比べるようなことはしないでくれ」と怒っていたそうです。しかし有名な出版者ハスリンガーは、ツィーラーを「ウィーンの新しいダンス音楽作曲家」として売り出すことにし、その目論見はあたりウィーン中が彼のワルツやポルカで埋め尽くされたこともありました。この魅力的な喜歌劇「三つの希望」は、ツェムリンスキーがスコアの手直しをした可能性が高く(自筆スコアに書きこみがある)、いろいろな意味で興味深い作品と言えるでしょう。
