イギリス音楽を知りたければ、まずヴォーン・ウィリアムスを聴け！と言われるほどに彼の作品には英国らしさが詰まっています。特に声楽曲の素晴らしさは筆舌に尽くしがたいもので、賛美歌をふんだんに用い、独自のオーケストレーションで味付けした華やかな音楽は合唱を聴く喜びをたっぷり味わうことができるでしょう。カンタータ「この日」の冒頭での晴れやかな声の交錯にまず耳を傾けてみてください。
