多くのオーケストラ・レーベルから大曲、出しまくってる現代の大家、ハイティンク。そのどれもが、名演で、人気、人望、共にあっての事。今回は意外や、ハイドンの大曲。ピリオド・アプローチを意識しつつ、スケール大きく、この人らしく質実剛健。お元気です。実演ではやっているのに、録音が殆どないモーツアルトの交響曲や、シューベルトも是非、聴かせて欲しい。

1796年から1798年にかけて作曲されたこのオラトリオ「天地創造」。あの興行主ザロモンの依頼によって書かれた作品で、旧約聖書の「創世記」第1章とミルトンの「失楽園」を元にした台本にハイドンが魅力ある音楽をつけています。第1部は天地創造の第1日から第4日までが描かれ、混沌としたものの中から光が生まれ、天使たちが舞い、神の栄光が歌われます。第2部では第5日目と、第6日目。まず生き物たちが地と空を覆い、その後ようやく人間が造られます。そして第3部ではその造られた人間「アダムとエヴァ」が物語の主役となります。この演奏はハイティンクにとっては第3回目の録音となります。近作は、これまでの音楽的成果と経験を全て注ぎ込んだかのような熱演であり、この雄大な音楽つくりは、まさに「神の視点」というほかありません。84歳という年齢を感じさせないエネルギッシュな演奏となっていることにも注目です。3人のソリストも万全であり、最近注目のソプラノ、ティリングの涼やかで落ち着きのあるガブリエル、やわらかくふっくらとしたパドモアのウリエル、こちらも注目の若手バスバリトン、ミュラー＝ブラッハマンの年齢を越えた深い声の響きなど聴くべきところの多いものです。エキサイティングな100分。天地が誕生する様子をぜひお楽しみください。
