【16世紀ネーデルラント楽派を代表する大家を、現代のサウンドスケープに文脈づける異色作】柔軟な音楽性の持ち主であるシモン＝ピエール・ベスティオンを中心に、選び抜かれた声楽家たちと器楽奏者たちが集まり、テーマ性の強い独特なステージ体験を提供しつづけるラ・タンペート。古楽から近現代までさまざまな作曲家の作品を意外なコンテクストに置き直し、ジャンルの垣根を超えさまざまなアーティストをゲストに招きつつ意欲的な企画を聴かせてきました。今回のプロジェクトでは、フランス語圏ベルギーの古都モンス出身でバイエルン選帝侯家から絶大な信頼を得、イタリアやフランスに旅し広範な音楽性を養った16世紀の巨匠ラッススに光をあて、自在なアプローチでその音楽世界に迫ります。この作曲家を紹介するドキュメンタリーへの音楽提供依頼から生まれたプログラムで、ベスティオンはそれまで殆ど知らなかったラッススについて学ぶうち、その多面性のある作品と生涯に急速に惹かれてゆき、できるだけ自由にその音楽を捉えたいと考えたとのこと。ア・カペラ作品のピアノ独奏アレンジに始まり、ヴィオラ・ダ・ガンバ合奏や木管コルネット＆サクバット、トリプルハープなどを使った古楽色の強いラ・タンペートの演奏陣が紡ぎ出すサウンドを軸に、ドラムスやサクソフォンなど現代楽器がごく自然に加わって、ロックやジャズを日常的に知る21世紀人の音感覚に驚くほどすんなり16世紀ポリフォニーの響きがなじむ独特な音楽体験が詰まっています。ジャズや現代音楽の側から古楽の魅力を知る一歩になりそうな異色の1枚です。
