The tenor Alessandro Liberatore was born in Rome and studied singing and piano in his native city. He attended specialisation courses with Rockwell Blake at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. He has won numerous international Competitions including the Città di Nettuno, Zandonai and Caruso Contests and made his début in the rôle of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni. He is particularly known for his interpretations of French repertoire and has also sung in Massenet’s Werther and Verdi’s La traviata, Macbeth and Messa da Requiem. From sacred repertoire he has sung in Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and in October 2002 appeared in a recital in Montecarlo with Luciano Pavarotti.
