Hailed by The New York Times for her ‘deeply moving’ interpretation of Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, soprano Angela Maria Blasi has performed with the most prestigious opera companies and festivals in the world, appearing at the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Salzburg Festival, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, La Monnaie, Brussels and the Metropolitan Opera, New York. Blasi was a 2004 GRAMMY® Award nominee for Best Vocal Performance (Joseph Marx – Orchestral Songs).
Her discography includes audiovisual performances of La Bohème on Erato and Mozart’s Il re pastore on Philips, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 on Deutsche Grammophon, Mozart and Brahms’ requiems and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with Sir Colin Davis, works by Bach and Mozart with Nikolaus Harnoncourt on Teldec and numerous recordings with Zubin Mehta and the Bayerische Staatsoper.
Blasi was a 1982 Metropolitan Opera National Council finalist, carries the title of Bavarian Kammersängerin, and has won numerous press and audience awards for her performances in Europe.
