Born in Ohio, Lawrence Brownlee has quickly established himself as a leading bel canto tenor. He includes some twelve Rossini rôles in his repertoire, and made his Rome début as Osiride in Mosè in Egitto, appearing at the Toulouse Théâtre du Capitole as Narciso in Il Turco in Italia, a rôle he sang with great success at the Berlin Staatsoper. Engagements have since taken him to opera houses throughout the world, including La Scala, the Vienna State Opera and the Metropolitan in New York. In 2006 he received the Marian Anderson Award and the Richard Tucker Award.
