After graduating from The Eastman School of Music in 1972, Vince DiMartino taught at the University of Kentucky until 1993, when he began a new appointment as Distinguished Artist in residence at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, where he teaches trumpet, brass and jazz ensembles, and jazz history. He has served as the Music Chair and is currently coordinator of the Centre College Instrumental Program. He is distinguished Matton Professor of Music at Centre College and also Distinguished Valade Professor of Trumpet at The Interlochen Center for the Arts each summer. In 2008 he received The Governor’s Artist Award in Kentucky. As a player he has enjoyed a distinguished career, both as a soloist with leading orchestras and as a jazz artist.
