The soprano Sivan Rotem is one of Israel’s most versatile artists. Trained originally as a violinist, she also holds degrees in English and Literature from Haifa University and in voice from Tel Aviv University’s Rubin Academy. She is a member of the Israeli Sculptors and Painters Association, and her paintings are exhibited in various parts of Israel and elsewhere. Rotem’s Israeli opera début was in Die Zauberflöte with the Israel Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta, and her American opera début was as Violetta in La Traviata at the Seattle Opera under Gerard Schwarz. She has performed both as a soloist with leading orchestras and in solo recitals throughout the world. Her festival appearances include the Savonlinna Opera Festival, Finland, the Suma Flamenca Festival, Madrid, the Three Cultures Festival, Murcia, the Henley Festival, UK and the Spring Festival, Jerusalem. Her recordings include Spanish Songs for Romeo Records, and Aharon Harlap’s Symphony No. 2, for Helicon.
