Rebaroque was founded in 1998 as Stockholm Baroque Orchestra, and was quickly established as one of the leading baroque ensembles in Sweden. Rebaroque is an ensemble that stands for outstanding artistic quality and which strives to bring music to life in a way which will appeal to new listeners. The ensemble mostly consists of Sweden’s most active baroque freelance musicians, with each member contributing to the group’s artistic vision. With the violinist Maria Lindal as concertmaster and artistic leader, Rebaroque is a modern and innovative baroque orchestra that successfully extends musical boundaries, creating new experiences for their audiences.
Rebaroque’s repertoire includes orchestral works as well as chamber music such as oratorios and opera. The orchestra performs in Sweden and abroad, creating its own musical dramatic works such as Vivaldi & Tjejerna (2013), St Matthew Passion (2014), Idomeneus (2021) and Songs of Wars I have seen (2023).
