Mauro Utzeri began his professional career in 1991, after study at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He made his début at Montepulciano and, as the 1991 winner, in the Toti dal Monte awards season as Gugliemo in Mozartʼs Così fan tutte. He won the Viñas award as the best Mozart singer and the Walton Foundation Award as Dandini (La Cenerentola). He has appeared in leading opera houses in Italy and abroad, collaborating with the most distinguished conductors. His rôles have included Don Giovanni, Leporello and Masetto (Don Giovanni), Figaro and the Count (Le nozze di Figaro), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Taddeo (LʼItaliana in Algeri), Figaro and Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Belcore (Lʼelisir dʼamore), and Mephistopheles (Faust). He has recorded for EMI Italia, Naxos, BMG, Harmonia Mundi, Bongiovanni and other companies.
