Clarinettist Verity Butler graduated from the Royal College of Music with a master’s degree in performance and the coveted Tagore Gold Medal. She made her London debut at the Purcell Room, and has since performed an extensive repertoire of concerto, solo and chamber works at venues throughout Britain and abroad. She was also the director of Cheltenham’s acclaimed Pittville Pump Room Sunday Showcase Series.
Many works have been written for her, and she gave the British premiere of John McCabe’s January Sonatina and the first public performance of Joseph Horovitz’s Diversions on a Familiar Theme. She regularly appears as a concerto soloist and especially enjoys chamber music. Recitals have included performances in the International Clarinet Festival in Cracow and the Cheltenham International Festival Showcase, while as an orchestral player she has worked with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the English Symphony Orchestra.
