The Danish conductor and composer Ole Schmidt initially earned his living as a self-taught jazz pianist before study with Vagn Holmboe at the Royal Danish Academy. His career had brought active association with ballet as both conductor and composer.
Orchestral Music
With a musical language reflecting the influence of Stravinsky, Bartók and French composers, Schmidt wrote an interesting series of solo concertos for accordion, tuba, guitar, violin, oboe, flute and other instruments.
