Alessandro Milani graduated from the Turin Conservatory with honours, then furthered his studies with Salvatore Accardo at the Walter Stauffer Academy in Cremona. For two years, he was a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra (ECYO). Since 1995 he has been first violin of the RAl National Symphony Orchestra. As first violin, he has collaborated with the orchestras of Rome’s Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and Teatro dell’Opera, and Milan’s Teatro alla Scala.
He has played under the baton of Riccardo Chailly, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Sir Antonio Pappano, Valery Gergiev, Carlo Maria Giulini, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Lorin Maazel. He has made several recordings as soloist, including Elgar’s Violin Concerto conducted by Jeffrey Tate.
He plays a Francesco Gobetti violin from 1711 kindly granted by the Pro Canale Foundation of Milan.
