Greek baritone Dionysios Sourbis studied voice under George Samartzis, continuing his studies with Claude Thiolas (Maria Callas Scholarship, 2005).
He has won first prize in numerous international competitions, including the Toti dal Monte and Spiros Argiris vocal competitions, and has received honours from the Union of Greek Critics for Drama and Music and the Laurence Olivier Awards.
Sourbis has sung at prestigious opera houses and venues including Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall, Τeatro La Fenice and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He has been a soloist with the Greek National Opera since 2003. His repertoire includes Sotiris (Kalomiris’ The Mother’s Ring), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), as well as works by Xenakis and Koumendakis, among others.
