Jacques Mauger studied at the Regional Conservatoire in Rouen and later at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris.
After winning prizes in Markneukirchen in Germany and in Toulon he began his professional career as first trombonist in the Nice Philharmonic, then became first trombonist in the Orchestra of the Paris Opera. Since 1990 he has concentrated on his soloist career and has often performed in and outside France with ensembles ranging from string and symphony orchestras to brass and concert bands, and has given recitals with piano and organ accompaniment. Many composers have written works and arrangements for him.
Jacques Mauger works as a teacher at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris/CNR and at the Accademia Internationale Superiore di Musica “Lorenzo Peroni” di Biella in Italy. He has held masterclasses in Flaine and Nice, in England, Japan, Korea, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, USA and South America.
