Martyn Hill has sung with many of the world’s leading orchestras and opera companies, and has worked with conductors including Claudio Abbado, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Pierre Boulez, Edo de Waart, André Previn, Mstislav Rostropovich and Kent Nagano.
His wide concert repertoire ranges from the Evangelist in the Bach Passions, to Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius and the works of Benjamin Britten. Operatic rôles include Mozart’s Idomeneo, Stravinsky’s Oedipus, Britten’s Peter Grimes, and Achilles in Tippett’s King Priam. Many world premières include works by Elliott Carter, Georg Friedrich Haas and Mauricio Kagel. He has recorded Peter Maxwell Davies’s Tavener for the BBC and General Sir Philip Wingrave in a television film for Channel 4 of Britten’s Owen Wingrave.
He has made over a hundred recordings.
