Mezzo-soprano Marta Knörr works regularly as a soloist with various vocal and instrumental chamber groups. She completed her singing studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in San Sebastián, where she was unanimously voted the recipient of the Graduation Honours Award. She was also a prizewinner at the Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition in Barcelona. Following this, she moved to Vienna to perfect her vocal technique with Susan Dennis and to work on operatic repertoire with Itsvan Cserjan.
She has sung a wide variety of solo rôles, ranging from Henry Purcell to Kurt Weill to name but a few, in opera productions at
the Teatro Real and the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo and the Mozart Festival in La Coruña. In 2013 she performed one of the main rôles in the Spanish première of Krenek’s chamber opera What Price Confidence at the Canal Theatre in Madrid.
She is also a distinguished concert and oratorio singer who has performed in Spain’s principal concert halls and festivals. Marta Knörr is a great fan of contemporary music and has made several recordings for Radio Clásica and given recitals internationally, as well as releasing albums to critical acclaim on the Columna Música label.
