Stefania Rinaldi, conductor
Stefania Rinaldi was the first
woman to appear in 2002 on the conductors podium of the Naples Teatro San Carlo.
Successful in the Donatella Flick conducting competition in London and a finalist
in the European Community competition of the Fondazione Franco Capuana, she
completed her studies in conducting at the Santa Cecilia Conservatorio in Rome,
continuing at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and at the Accademia
Musicale Chigiana in Siena, studying symphonic and operatic repertoire, with
Gianluigi Gelmetti, Myung-Whun Chung, Yuri Temirkanov and Ilya Musin, and receiving
special mentions, study scholarships, and prizes, including the Rotary Prize.
She also studied contemporary music with Franco Donatoni. Engagements in Italy
and appearances in Australia have been followed by work with the Rome Orchestra
Opera Musica and further concerts at the San Carlo. She is a professor at the
Conservatorio Domenico Cimarosa in Avellino.
