Giordano Bellincampi is music director of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, following positions as principal conductor of I Pomeriggi Musicali, Milan, chief conductor of Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, and music director of the Duisburg Philharmonic, Danish National Opera and the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra.
He is particularly celebrated for his prowess in the Central European, Italian and Scandinavian symphonic traditions, and in the field of opera, notably the works of Puccini and Verdi.
He is an associate professor at the Royal Danish Academy, and was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog, an award bestowed by the Danish Royal Family for services to Danish culture, and Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana for his international promotion of Italian music.
