Born in Sabadell (Barcelona, Spain), Torruella combined her singing studies with those of piano and cello. Her singing studies began with Maria de Vega, and later with Myriam Alió and Manuel García Morante in the Barcelona Higher Music Conservatory. She received a Special Prize in the Francesco Viñas International competition, and studied with Carlos Bergonzi in Busetto (Italy, 1990). Her repertoire includes opera, oratorio and lieder. She has given numerous recitals, accompanied by the composer and pianist Manel García Morante, with whom she has recorded two CDs: the first of the composer’s own works and the second of the complete works for voice and piano of Manuel de Falla.
