The young Italian baritone Giovanni Guagliardo started his musical studies in Catania, in Sicily, but soon after moved to New York, where he continues to further his studies. In 2002 he won the Sergio Franchi Scholarship in Connecticut, with other awards including a scholarship as youngest finalist in the Moncalieri International Vocal Competition, and triumph in competitions at Alcamo and Taranto.
He has participated in the Sicilian summer concert series in Catania and Siracusa with the National Bulgarian Orchestra. He has appeared as Sciarrone in Tosca at the Taormina Opera Festival under Giuseppe Di Stefano, and as the Mandarin in Turandot at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago.
