French guitarist Thomas Viloteau is the winner of the Guitar Foundation of America and the Francisco Tárrega competitions. He is the author of the technique book In the Black Box, and was the first guitarist to win the Arthur W. Foote Award from the Harvard Musical Association. He has released six solo albums, with his most recent, Les Lumières Electriques, showcasing many of his compositions for solo guitar.
He was artist-in-residence for the American Public Media’s Performance Today, and holds a Doctoral degree from the Eastman School of Music. From 2019 to 2024 he was on the faculty at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
His compositions are published by Les Productions d’OZ and he is the creator of Le Support®, his own line of guitar supports. He performs on guitars by Greg Smallman and Mark Usherovich, plays on Savarez strings and uses La Leona guitar cases.
