Awarded the European Prize for Culture – Symphonic Orchestra 1997, the Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia was founded in 1986, and since then has given more than 900 symphony concerts and opera performances for theatres, concert associations and festivals in Italy and abroad. In those years its main conductors have been Donato Renzetti, Lü Jia, Antonio Cipriani and Diego Dini Ciacci, and they have undertaken numerous collaborations with other leading conductors and soloists.
Since 1987 it has been the resident orchestra of the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca and between 1995 and 1998 it was the guest orchestra of the Arena Sferisterio in Macerata Opera. It was also the resident orchestra of the season of Concerts Telecom Italia in the Sistina Theatre in Rome between 1996 and 1998.
The Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia has performed with the principal Italian festivals, theatres and concert seasons, and since 1997 has developed activity abroad, giving more than 200 concerts in Europe, Asia, Central and South America. The orchestra has made over a hundred recordings, in addition to television programs and broadcasts.
