A pupil of Jane Berbié, Nicolas Courjal has appeared at the Opéra-Bastille and the Châtelet, Paris, the Chorégies d’Orange, La Fenice, Venice, Covent Garden, London, in Japan, Geneva and elsewhere. He regularly sings major bass rôles and has collaborated in premières of works by Pascal Dusapin, Marius Constant, Philippe Fénelon and Laurent Petitgirard. He has appeared with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra in Moscow, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome, and the Philharmonia, under conductors including Alain Altinoglu, Serge Baudo, James Conlon, Myung Whun Chung, Christoph von Dohnányi, Christoph Eschenbach, Vladimir Fedoseyev and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
