Bass-baritone Jochen Kupfer’s appearances in the world’s opera houses and concert halls have been internationally celebrated. He has given recitals and concerts throughout Europe, in Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Hong Kong, Israel and the United States as well as at international festivals. In addition to his engagements at the Semperoper Dresden and Staatstheater Nürnberg, guest appearances have taken him to opera houses such as the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Vienna Volksoper, Staatsoper Hamburg, Komische Oper Berlin, Oper Leipzig, Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin and Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, as well as in Tokyo, Beijing, Strasbourg, Zürich and Graz.
Kupfer has been widely critically acclaimed, and his vast discography comprises numerous albums and DVD recordings. Kupfer studied at the Leipzig Musikhochschule, attended masterclasses with Theo Adam, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, and completed his studies with Rudolf Piernay, Harald Stamm and Dale Fundling. In 2016 he was awarded the honorary title Bayerischer Kammersänger. He has served as a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg since 2019.
