Acclaimed soprano Caroline Melzer boasts an unusually wide repertoire, ranging from vast lyrical and jugendlichdramatic roles and operetta divas to contemporary works written specifically for her.
She studied singing with Rudolf Piernay and Vera Scherr and song interpretation with Ulrich Eisenlohr and Irwin Gage.
Her first permanent engagement took her to the Komische Oper Berlin in 2007, and from 2010 to 2017 she was an ensemble member at the Volksoper Wien.
Opera career highlights include appearances at the Ruhrtriennale and Savonlinna Festivals, the Staatsoper Berlin, Hungarian State Opera and in Tokyo. As part of her activities as a Lieder and concert singer, Melzer has performed in renowned European venues such as the Philharmonie Berlin; Konzerthaus Berlin; Wiener Konzerthaus; Musikverein Wien; Kunstcentrum deSingel, Antwerp; Cité de la musique, Paris; Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg; Tonhalle, Zürich; De Doelen, Rotterdam; Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Moscow; and Town Hall, Birmingham.
She currently teaches in Mannheim and Berlin.
