Born in 1976, Jean-Baptiste Robin studied at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, where he was awarded five unanimous first prizes, with teachers including Marie-Claire Alain, Olivier Latry, Louis Robilliard, Jean-François Zygel and Marc-André Dalbavie, followed by composition lessons with George Benjamin at King’s College in London. His twenty or more compositions represent commissions from Radio France, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Lyon. He is a laureate of the Académie des Beaux-Arts (Institut de France), winner of the SACEM George Enesco Composition Prize and first laureate of the musician scholarship of the Fondation Lagardère. He took the Grand Prix of the city of Bordeaux and the Audience Prize of the Dom Bedos International Composition Competition and the Roubaix Prix François.

Jean-Baptiste Robin has an active career as a concert organist, appearing throughout Europe, in Japan and in the United States and in major organ festivals. He has given masterclasses for the American Guild of Organists, the Académie Internationale de Haarlem (ND), the Académie Musicale de la Chaise-Dieu (F), at the Tübingen and Rottenburg Hochschule and at the Sapporo Organ Academy in Japan. His recordings have brought him a Diapason d’Or de l’Année, Choc du Monde and the Coup de cœur of the Académie Charles Cros, and include the complete works for organ of François Couperin, Louis Marchand and Felix Mendelssohn. At the age of twenty-three he was awarded the position of organist at the great historical organ of François-Henri Clicquot of Poitiers Cathedral. He is Professor of Organ and Composition at the Versailles Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional.
