After studies in violin and composition in France, Baptiste Romain went on to specialise in medieval and Renaissance music, studying at the Centre de Musique Médiévale de Paris, the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Lyon and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He constantly searches for new ideas, sounds and techniques pertaining to the historically informed performance of early music and is passionate about improvisation, vocal accompaniment and instrumental repertories.
Baptiste Romain performs in several ensembles, including his own, Le Miroir de Musique, Gilles Binchois (Dominique Vellard), per-sonat (Sabine Lutzenberger), and Tetraktys (Kees Boeke), and teaches medieval music at the University of Besançon.
