Darko Nikčević, born 1971 in Nikšić, Montenegro, is a guitarist, composer, producer and audio engineer.
In addition to classical music, which he has played since childhood, his discovery of flamenco, with its advanced guitar techniques, opened up new expressive possibilities. Intensive studies in jazz and harmony have also contributed to his compositional style. He has written over 50 works. His knowledge of audio technology has enabled him to record and produce numerous albums with his colleague Srdjan Bulatović.
He also worked on the first album of instrumental music to be recorded and released in Montenegro, Flamenco (Radio and Television of Montenegro, 1994) and, with classical guitarist Srdjan Bulatović, the albums Duo (2001), Nostalgia (2005), Touch of Montenegro (2011), Synergy (2012), Ritmico (2015), The Best of Montenegro (2016), Balkan, Mediterranean, Orient (2017), The Sea (Naxos, 2018) and Peninsula (Naxos, 2020). With the flamenco group Duende he recorded an album of his own compositions, Slovenia (2003).
He is a recipient of Montenegro’s most prestigious accolade, the Thirteenth of July Award.
