One of the most prolific composers for guitar in China, Lin Huanqi has written more than 100 various works for the instrument thus far. Pieces such as Guqin Theme and Variations and The Études Tableaux have been performed in recital by many international artists, and his solo album, Monologue, was released in 2018 to public acclaim. In 2021, Splendor for violin, guitar and cello was recognised as an outstanding performance at the Southern Guitar Competition in the United States. In the same year, he completed his first guitar concerto, Wonderland.

As a promoter of original Chinese guitar music, Lin Huanqi works with many Chinese guitarist/composers who are as enthusiastic as him, fulfilling the responsibility of introducing Chinese works to the world.
