Born in Liverpool in 1942, Paul McCartney was a founding member of The Beatles, and songwriting partner of John Lennon. In the 1970s, after The Beatles disbanded, he founded the acclaimed rock band Wings, with whom he recorded seven albums, and had numerous solo hits. He was knighted in 1997.
